This article explains how to set up your family space, add family members, and prepare Nori for everyday use.
Overview
A family is the main shared space in Nori. Calendar events, tasks, meal plans, recipes, shopping lists, Family Hub data, and AI-created items are organized inside a family.
Each family member can have their own profile, color, avatar, and personal account. You can also create profile-only members for children, dependents, pets, or anyone who should appear in family plans but does not need their own login.
Before you start
- Install the Nori app and sign in.
- Choose whether you are creating a new family or joining an existing one.
- If you are joining another family, keep the invite link or invite code nearby.
- If you plan to invite others, have their email address or preferred sharing method ready.
Create or join a family
| Choice | Use it when |
|---|---|
| Create a family | You are setting up Nori for your household for the first time. |
| Join a family | Someone has already created the family and sent you an invite link or invite code. |
Add family members
- Open Family Setup or Family Management in the Nori app.
- Choose whether this person should receive an invitation or stay as a profile-only member.
- Add a family member profile.
- Enter the family member's name.
- Choose a color for that family member.
- Add an avatar or birthday if you want.
A family member's color is used across shared areas like Calendar and Tasks, so it is easier to see who an item belongs to.
Invite family members
You can share an invitation by email or link. Both options invite the same person, so you only need to choose one.
- If the family member has not joined yet, their profile may show Join Pending.
- If you invited them by email, you can tap Resend to send the email invitation again.
- If the invitation expires, resend the invitation from the family member profile.
- After someone joins, they can use their own account to view and update shared family information.
Edit family info
You can tap Edit info to update your family name and home address.
Your home address helps Nori AI provide more useful local recommendations, such as nearby family activities, events, and places to visit. Your address is used to personalize these suggestions and is handled with care to protect your privacy.
If you remove a family member
Removing a family member does not automatically delete past events, tasks, or other records that already include that profile. The profile may still appear on older items, but it will no longer be available for new assignments.
