This article explains how Recipes and Meal Plan work together in the Nori app.
Overview
Recipes is your family's recipe library. Meal Plan helps you decide what your family will eat on each day and meal.
Together, they can help you save recipes, organize cookbooks, plan meals, adjust servings, view nutrition when available, and add ingredients to Shopping List.
Recipes
- Save recipes from Nori Collection.
- Create recipes manually.
- Import recipes from a supported URL.
- Use Nori AI to create a recipe from a photo, link, or conversation.
- Organize recipes into cookbooks.
- Use search to find recipes and cookbooks.
What a recipe can include

- Nutrition when available
Cookbooks and Nori Collection
Cookbooks help you organize saved recipes. Nori Collection is Nori's built-in recipe library.
If you save a Nori Collection recipe, Nori creates a version for your family so you can use it in your own meal plans.
Meal Plan
Meal Plan helps you plan what your family will eat. Meals may include Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Other, depending on your settings.
In Meal Plan settings, you can choose which meal sections need to be planned. For example, you can turn Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, or Other on or off, so your meal plan only shows the sections your family uses.
- Add recipes from your library.
- Adjust servings for a planned recipe.
- Add notes when needed.
- Choose which meal sections appear in your plan.
- Use recently added recipes or cookbooks to plan faster.
- Create a quick recipe placeholder if you know the meal name but have not filled out the full recipe yet.
Limits
A single meal can include up to 20 recipes or quick entries. If you reach the limit, remove an item before adding more.
Shopping List sync
Recipes and Meal Plan can help add ingredients to Shopping List. When you increase servings for a planned recipe, Nori may ask whether you want to add the extra ingredients to Shopping List.
If an ingredient has no quantity, or the quantity is too small to be useful, Nori may add it without showing a quantity.
Nutrition
When nutrition is available, Recipe nutrition is shown per serving. Meal Plan nutrition can show the total for the day based on the meals you planned.
- Calories and the main macro categories may be visible on free accounts.
- Detailed nutrition and AI nutrition insights may require Nori Plus.
- Nutrition is calculated from recipe ingredients and is not edited directly.
- Changing recipe ingredients or planned servings can update the nutrition totals.
Deleting a recipe
If a recipe is used in today's or a future Meal Plan, Nori may ask you to confirm before deleting it. Deleting the recipe can also remove it from related meal plans.
