This article explains how Nori notifications and reminders work for events, tasks, and family updates.
Overview
Nori can send reminders for events and tasks, plus activity notifications when family members create, change, delete, or complete shared items.
To receive reminders, make sure notifications are allowed in your phone or browser settings.
Reminder types

| Call Alert | Uses an app call-style alert for important event or task reminders when enabled. |
| In-app reminder | May appear while the app is open, depending on availability. |
Calendar reminders
Event reminders can notify you when an event is starting or before it starts. All-day events may use a morning reminder time.
- You can add or change reminder times on supported events.
- Connected calendar events may bring their own reminder settings.
- Call Alert is off by default and can be turned on for supported events.
Task reminders
Task reminders are based on the task's due time when one is set. All-day tasks may use a default due time and a morning reminder.
- Tasks without a due time may not trigger a time-based reminder.
- Call Alert can be turned on for supported tasks.
- Overdue task reminders may appear if unfinished tasks need attention.
Activity notifications
Nori may notify family members when shared events or tasks are created, changed, deleted, or completed by someone else.
- If someone adds you to an event or task, you may get a notification.
- If someone changes a schedule or due time, involved family members may be notified.
- If someone completes a task, other involved family members may be notified.
- Undoing a completed task may not send a notification.
Time-sensitive reminders
Event and task reminders may be sent as time-sensitive notifications on mobile when supported by your device settings. Other planning or activity messages may not use time-sensitive delivery.
Planning nudges
Nori may send planning reminders, such as prompts to review the week, plan meals, invite family members, or try Family AI. These messages are separate from event and task reminders.
If you are not receiving notifications
- Check that notifications are allowed for the Nori app in your phone settings.
- Check Nori notification settings in the app or on Nori Web.
- Confirm the event or task has a reminder set.
- Confirm the event or task includes the right family member.
- If using browser notifications, make sure your browser allows notifications from Nori Web.
