This article explains how Shopping Lists work on Nori Web.

Overview

Shopping Lists are shared across your family. Nori Web is useful for organizing lists, editing item details, and reviewing grocery needs from recipes and meal plans.

Lists and categories

Shopping Lists can include a default list and additional lists you create, such as Costco, Walmart, or Party Supplies.

Inside a list, items can be grouped by category. Categories can help you scan the list faster while shopping.

Add an item on Web

1. Open Shopping List on Nori Web.
2. Choose the list you want to add to, if you use more than one list.
3. Type the item name.
4. Include a quantity and unit if helpful, such as 2 lb apples.
5. Press Enter or use the add button.

Nori may suggest common items while you type and may assign a category or icon automatically.

Edit item details

• Item name
• Quantity and unit
• Category
• Description
• Attached photos, up to 3 images with a 10 MB limit for each image
• Source recipe or meal, when the item came from a recipe or Meal Plan

How matching and merging works

• Items with the same name and same unit in the same list may merge.
• The same item can exist separately in different lists.
• If an item has no unit and no quantity, it may merge with a similar item.
• If an item has a quantity but no unit, it is kept separate from items with units.
• Changing an item's unit later does not always merge it into another item.

Mark items as purchased

Mark an item as purchased when it has been bought. Purchased items move into the Purchased section after a short delay and do not clear automatically.

Add items from Recipes, Meal Plan, or AI

Recipes and Meal Plan can add ingredients to Shopping List. Meal Plan items usually go to the default list unless you choose another list in the sync prompt.

You can also ask Nori AI to add shopping items. If you do not name a specific list, Nori adds the items to the default list.
