This article explains how Meal Plan, Recipes, and nutrition information work on Nori Family Hub.
Meal Plan
Meal Plan helps your family plan meals by day and meal type, add recipes or quick notes, review daily nutrition, and decide whether recipe changes should update the Shopping List.
View your meal plan
| View | What you can do |
|---|---|
| List view | Swipe across the week by day. When you open Meal Plan, today is shown first so you can start from the current plan. |
| Calendar view | See the full week in a grid, with days across the top and Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Other down the side. |
- Use the view switcher in the top-right corner to move between List view and Calendar view.
- Each day shows a nutrition summary based on the recipes already planned for that day.
- Tap the calorie or nutrition indicator to open the full daily nutrition summary.
Filter meal types
Use the filter icon in the top-right corner of Meal Plan to choose which meal types are shown. For example, turn on only Dinner when you want to review dinner plans without seeing Breakfast, Lunch, or Other.
- Open Meal Plan.
- Tap the filter icon in the top-right corner.
- In Filter meals, turn each meal type on or off: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Other.
- To show only dinner, keep Dinner on and turn off Breakfast, Lunch, and Other.
- Tap Done to apply the filter.
Filtering only changes what is visible on screen. Hidden meals stay saved in your Meal Plan and will appear again when you turn that meal type back on.
Add recipes or notes
- Choose a day and meal slot, such as Lunch or Dinner.
- Tap the `+` button.
- Choose Choose from recipes to add one or more recipes, or choose Add a note for a simple reminder such as leftovers, fruit, or eating out.
- When adding recipes, search or browse cookbooks, select the recipes you want, then tap Save to Meal Plan.
Quick notes are reminders only. They do not include nutrition data and will not change the daily calorie, protein, carbs, or fat totals.
Edit a planned meal
| Action | How it works |
|---|---|
| Change servings | Open the recipe card menu or meal cell, adjust the serving count, then save. Nutrition totals update automatically. |
| Remove a recipe | Use the recipe card menu or meal cell controls to remove the recipe from that meal slot. |
| Edit a note | Open the note menu, choose Edit, update the text, then tap Done. |
| Remove a note | Open the note menu and choose Remove. |
Recipes
Recipes is where you browse cookbooks, open recipe details, save recipes, create cookbooks, add recipes to Meal Plan, and send ingredients to the Shopping List.
Browse and search recipes
| Area | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Cookbooks | Open Nori Collection, Uncategorized, or any custom cookbook to see the recipes inside. |
| Search | Search across recipes and cookbooks. Search results can show both cookbook matches and individual recipe matches. |
| Allergen filter | Use the allergen filter in search results to narrow recipes for your family. |
- Tap New cookbook to create a custom cookbook. If the name already exists, choose a different name before saving.
- Custom cookbooks appear after Uncategorized, with the newest or most recently updated cookbooks first.
Use the recipe detail page
| Section | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Overview | Review the recipe image, title, cooking time, source, tags, and allergens. |
| Nutrition | See calories, protein, carbs, and fat per serving. Open Details for the full nutrition view when available. |
| Servings | Use the serving controls to adjust the recipe. Ingredients and nutrition update based on the selected serving count. |
| Ingredients and instructions | Review ingredient amounts, cooking steps, and any recipe tags before planning or shopping. |
Save, plan, and shop from a recipe
- Tap the bookmark to add the recipe to one or more cookbooks.
- Use Add to meal to place the recipe into Meal Plan.
- Use Add to Shopping List (below the ingredients) to send ingredients to a shopping list.
- Before adding to Shopping List, confirm the serving count, choose the target list, and uncheck any ingredients you already have.
Tip: Adjust servings before adding ingredients to Shopping List so the quantities match your plan.
Note: Removing a recipe from all cookbooks may also remove it from meal plans.
Create or organize recipes
- Create recipes from scratch, or follow the prompts to import recipes using the Nori app or Nori AI when available.
- Save recipes into multiple cookbooks when they fit more than one category.
- Use Uncategorized for saved recipes that you have not organized yet.
Nutrition
Nutrition helps you understand calories and key macros from recipes and meal plans. Nori can show per-serving nutrition on recipe details, daily nutrition totals in Meal Plan, and a dashboard widget for today's plan.
Where nutrition appears
| Place | What it shows | How to open it |
|---|---|---|
| Recipe detail | Calories, protein, carbs, and fat per serving when nutrition data is available. | Open a recipe, then review the Nutrition per serving area or tap **Details** for more nutrition information. |
| Meal Plan | Daily totals based on all planned recipes for that day, including calories and macro breakdowns. | Open Meal Plan and look at the nutrition summary for the selected day. |
| Dashboard widget | Today's nutrition at a glance. If no meals are planned, it shows 0 cal and a prompt to plan a meal. | Tap the Nutrition widget to jump into Meal Plan. |
What the numbers mean
- Calories show the total energy from the recipe or planned day.
- Protein, Carbs, and Fat show grams and percentage share when unlocked and available.
- Recipe detail values are calculated per serving. If you change servings, ingredient amounts and nutrition values update on screen.
- Daily Meal Plan totals add together the nutrition from all recipe cards planned for that day.
- Quick notes, such as leftovers or eating out reminders, do not include nutrition data and do not change daily totals.
AI nutrition insights
AI nutrition insights acts like a private nutrition coach for the selected day. It reviews the day's planned recipes, calories, protein, carbs, and fat, then gives high-level guidance about balance and possible improvements.
- Open Meal Plan or the Dashboard nutrition widget.
- Tap AI insights.
- Review the suggestions, such as whether the day is protein-heavy, carb-heavy, low calorie, or could use a more balanced meal.
Paid access and locked nutrition details
| Feature | Free access | Paid access |
|---|---|---|
| Calories | Basic calorie totals are visible so everyone can use nutrition as a planning tool. | Paid users also see the full nutrition context around those calories. |
| Protein, carbs, and fat | - | Paid users can see grams and percentages for protein, carbs, and fat. |
| Recipe nutrition details | - | Paid users can open detailed nutrition information when available. |
| AI nutrition insights | - | Paid users can ask Nori to analyze the day's planned meals. |
When nutrition is empty or unavailable
- If no recipes are planned for the day, the widget can show `0 cal` and `0g (0%)` macro values.
- Use Plan a meal to add recipes and start building nutrition totals.
- Nutrition information is for planning and awareness, not medical advice.
